Adrienne's Massage Therapy Background

Originally from Los Angeles, Adrienne practiced in Palos Verdes CA from 1987-1995 before relocating to Washington. Her love of cycling as a young girl - including Monterey-to-Los Angeles and San Francisco-to-San Diego distance rides at ages 13 and 14 - gave her an early interest in sports physiology. Eventually her passion for cycling introduced her to massage therapy as a means to increase athletic performance.

Adrienne studied under the renowned Myk Hungerford, PhD, a Doctor of Physical Therapy who pioneered sports massage in the 1984 Olympics. Dr. Hungerford was an early mentor who taught Adrienne advanced techniques that continue to distinguish her from other practitioners even today.

In 1987, Adrienne completed her Certification in Massage Therapy, a 500-hour program from the California School of Medical Sciences in Beverly Hills. The next year she provided massage for the United States Cycling Federation, helping elite cyclists train for the Olympics.

Shortly thereafter, Adrienne began competitive power lifting on the team Bernie's Powerhouse for 3 years in California and Arizona. Coach Bernie Gagne, who went to 14 world championships for women, encouraged Adrienne to consistently protect her musculoskeletal system from injury. While she no longer does any heavy lifting, Adrienne still loves being in the gym and working with moderate weights. It is likely that her long career in massage therapy is due in part to her physical conditioning.

Since 1992, Adrienne has steadily added to her professional education with 6 additional certifications in Reflexology, Sports Massage, Anatomy, Myofascial Release, Soft Tissue Release and Active Isolated Stretching. And in 1996, Adrienne completed a second full certification course in massage therapy, a 670-hour program from the Body Mind Academy in Bellevue.
